On June 14, Bang Zoom! Studios announced that producer Hiroe Tsukamoto passed away. The statement reads:
It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of one of the greats of the anime industry, Hiroe Tsukamoto. She was a brilliant and influential producer who helped bring anime to the world, starting with AKIRA all the way through DEMON SLAYER. It has been an honor to work alongside her for the past nearly 25 years and to consider her a friend. We will miss you, Hiroe-san, but you’ll always be present in the studios.
Tsukamoto entered the anime industry in 1994, working as a producer for Pioneer Entertainment (later Geneon). Her inaugural titles included Armitage III: Poly-Matrix and Phantom Quest Corp, which she worked on as a Production Assistant During her tenure, she produced produce dubs for more than sixty titles, including Sakura Wars the Movie, Sailor Moon SuperS, Hellsing, and Gurren Lagann.
In November 2006, Tsukamoto joined Aniplex of America as Vice President of Production. There, she served as supervising producer for the English dubs of the company’s releases, including Sword Art Online, March Comes In Like A Lion, and the Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel film trilogy.
Throughout her career, she worked as a Producer or Supervising Producer for more than one hundred titles.
